DOH-Sarasota to close offices for holidays 

SARASOTA - The Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County, (DOH-Sarasota) which is a state agency, will be closed Thursday and Friday, Dec.25 and 26, and on Thursday, Jan. 1.

Christmas Day and New Year's Day are official state holidays. Governor Rick Scott has directed that state offices, including county health departments, close the day after Christmas, Friday, Dec. 26 “in recognition of state employees’ hard work.”

Services at all DOH-Sarasota sites in Sarasota, Venice and North Port, and at the William L. Little Health & Human Services Center in Sarasota, which also houses Sarasota County Contracted Human Services and the north county Veterans Services Office, will resume on Monday, Dec. 29.

DOH-Sarasota patients with a true medical emergency are advised to contact 911. Those in need of Veterans Services on Friday, Dec. 26 should contact the Veterans Officer located at the Robert L. Anderson County Administration Center, 4000 S. Tamiami Trail in Venice.
