SARASOTA COUNTY — More than 130 public health and health care providers from counties around Florida are registered to attend the 8th Annual Southwest Florida Immunization Workshop entitled, “Facing the Challenge– Adolescent Vaccinations.” The goal is to share best-practice strategies to increase adolescent vaccination rates, with a special emphasis on the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccine, known to prevent a number of cancers, including most forms of cervical cancer.

WHEN:    Thursday, May 19, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

WHERE:  State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota
                Lakewood Ranch
                7131 Professional Parkway East, Sarasota

The workshop will feature JoEllen Wolicki, a nurse educator with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) at 9 a.m. Keynote speakers Dr. Susan Vadaparampil of Moffitt Cancer Center and Dr. Tommy Schechtman of the Florida Academy of Pediatrics will speak at 10:45 a.m. and 1:15 p.m., respectively.
