The COAD is public-private partnership of local voluntary, private and non-profit organizations dedicated to maximizing the effective use of government resources including volunteers and donations to enhance services to disaster survivors.

Sarasota County Health and Human Services actively participates and provides staff support for the Sarasota COAD. When activated, the COAD is a part of the Sarasota County Emergency Management’s Emergency Support Function (ESF) 15, dedicated to volunteers and donations coming into the county following a disaster.

The COAD partners with the county to run the Volunteer Reception Centers (VRCs) which are community locations where people who step forward to help during a time of disaster can register and get their volunteer duty assignments.  The COAD along with the Southwest Florida Healthcare Coalition promotes a common community mission approach to dealing with a disaster.

Email SCOAD@scgov.net if you would like to be part of the COAD or learn more.
