If you have a private well, the Florida Department of Health strongly recommends you test your water for bacteria and nitrate at least once each year. Routine water testing is a simple measure you can take to ensure that your drinking water supply is safe and to protect your family’s health.
The Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County (DOH-Sarasota) offers drinking water test kits with instructions to collect the sample yourself for $20. In some cases, our Environmental Health staff can come to your home and collect the samples for you, for an additional fee of $40.
